Budding musician Baz

Baz from Kingswinford is keen to make it in the music world.

Baz, tell us a bit about yourself...

Friday 7th March 2003

Im a solo artist, 22 year old and live in Kingswinford, West Midlands. I make techno, dance, trance, and electro-pop music and have completed two albums (though I'm still unsinged).

I enjoy music, acting, and IT. Im a very easy going and happy guy and work as an IT Technical Support Assistant.

Are you Black Country born and bred? If so tell us about your Black Country roots...

I've lived in the Black Country all my life. It is such an interesting place because it is full of history. I enjoy the Black Country museum, Merry Hill shopping centre, and its just a short distance from Birmingham.
I've lived in Kingswinford for most of my life and it's not a bad place. I also like Kinver as it is special to me and where I used to play as a child. Kinver is full of interesting history and I enjoy visiting Kinver Edge because you can see the rock houses there.

Tell us about your music, how you got started and who is your music for...

My music falls into many different styles including Trance, Techno, Dance, and Electropop. I started writing and playing music from the age of five. I play the electronic organ and the keyboard. Because I have become more and more familiar with computers, it's great to use them as a tool for music.

What are your influences in music...

My main influences are Mel C, Soft Cell, Marc Almond, Erasure, Spice Girls (Yes I know!!!), Pet shop boys, Kylie, and many more 80s stuff. These artists have really inspired me to work harder at my music. Because they use professional producers, composers, I used to feel that my work would never be as good as there's. But now I know that it is achievable with the right frame of mind and the right equipment.

What successes have you had...

I have had nearly 500 people listen to my music online (on my own website) which is something that I am very proud of. I have just finished my second album: experimentation. Its about me progressing through life. One of my favourite and most liked tracks is Bass. It has recently been played on Stourbridge FM. I havent long started promoting my music but will continue to do so.

What would you like to do with your music and where would you like to go with it...

My music has progressed and matured well over the years. I would like to hit the club scene if possible. My main dream is to go into a night-club and hear my music being played while everyone enjoys it. I want to go as far as possible with my music and want to reach the general public more.

Tell us about your acting...

I used to love acting with a passion at school but I never kept it up because of IT and my music. It's something that I really do want to get back into because I thoroughly enjoyed it.
It began in year 8 with a performance called Dazzle. My small part was a character in a gang called the greasers. Our part was to sing a song and throw our arms in the air - we were dressed hideously. On the last performance I over performed and the audience wouldn't stop laughing - at the end there was a standing ovation. It was the most amazing feeling I have ever felt and I miss it. Since then I did three more performances that were also successful.

Where do you work...

I currently work in Birmingham, which is a brilliant city. I enjoy the nightlife there and there is always something to see or do in Birmingham. I love the monuments scattered around and the tall buildings. In the morning whilst walking into work its amazing to see so many people either wearing a suit or begging for money.

What are your 10 favourite things in life and what are your pet hates...

  • Music It is my life.
  • Love To be loved by that perfect person and to get through the hard times - enjoying the good times together is what life is all about.
  • Family I love my family. Also life with my friend Helen. She is my best friend and whenever we're together we act like children. We don't care about anything and will shout and scream and that is the time when I feel free.
  • Friends I have many close friends - it's really important to have close friends.
  • Night Life I love to let my hair down and enjoy life.
  • Acting To entertain on stage is am amazing feeling.
  • Shopping Everyone likes to have a spending spree, especially me!!
  • Scotland If I need a break I love going to Scotland. It's such an amazing place and it's full of exciting and amazing sites to see. The landscapes are excellent and its a whole different world for me.
  • Skiing This is something that I havent done often. I've only been skiing for one week but it was great. I was about ten and I learned really quickly. On the last day I took my dad down a mountain for advanced skiers only. It was great going down to the bottom and then I looked behind and I couldnt see him. Then came down this snowball!!!!!
  • I dislike all of the hatred in the world and wish everyone could get along with each other.
